Advanced Defensive Pistol Phase I

This one day course is designed for the basic pistol shooter who has completed concealed carry and who wants additional training and gun handling experience before taking the more rigorous Deliberate Defense Advanced Defensive Pistol Phase II and Phase III classes. Students will be guided though detailed handgun and ammunition selection based on power, penetration, and concealability versus handgun size, weight, and felt recoil. Students will work on improving grip, stance and shooting techniques as they hone their shooting skills while learning to work from the holster. Students will explore guns and calibers recommended for self defense. Then they will be given the opportunity to “test drive” various handguns of the recommended calibers. Experienced instructors will demonstrate various carry options, equipment, and techniques and the lawful use of deadly force in self defense will be reviewed.
The student must provide:
- Semi-automatic pistol (revolver with prior approval from Rick). Students who have not yet purchased a pistol may rent a 9mm or .45 ACP pistol and holster from Deliberate Defense.
- 2 and preferably 3 magazines
- Holster (Strong side hip holster, must be able to draw and reholster effeciently)
- Magazine Holster
- 150 rounds of ammunition
- Eye and ear protection
- Sun screen and brimmed hat
- A bag lunch
